The purpose of the Dictionary of South Asian Christianity
is to fill a need for an authoritative, compact reference work on
Christianity in South Asia today including its history, key personalities,
diversity of expressions, and important contributions in the South
Aisa region.
The DSAC is intented for a wide audience. The layperson
will find it a helpful introduciton to the broad scope of Christianity
in South Asia. Theological students will have a ready reference
to many topics discussed in classes. Scholars will make use of the
many references attached to the articles. For religious specialist
and missiologists the DSAC will serve as a comprehensive guide to
issues being discussed in South Asia.
The DSAC is being produced from a South Asian perspective.
Entries will be written by South Asians or by persons with experience
in the South Asian context. The Dictionary will be of great value
to theological seminaries, Bible colleges and university departments
of religion throughout Asia as well as to South Asian church leaders
and theological students. Globalization of theological education
means that theological institutions in the West as well as in Africa
and Latin America will find the DSAC an essential tool for ecumenics,
missiology and church history.
The DSAC will be a mini-encyclopedia of 1000 pages.
