MIIS is a research institute that promotes the interdisciplinary study of indigenous Christianity within South Asia in order to contribute to the overall life of the church and society. MIIS envisions is a research centre where advanced study can take place that in turn may service as a catalyst for the sympathetic recognition of, active participation with and the competent empowering of indigenous churches and missions in particular and Indian Christianity in general. Leaders from the indigenous church groups have a story to tell. They need to be helped to preserve and promote indigenous Christianity through building a credible biblical theological foundation. MIIS aims to see indigenous Christianity established as a new field for academic research in Indian universities and theological institutions and be a base where post-doctoral, PhD and Masters level scholars are mentored and conduct their research on South Asian Christianity in particular and religion in general.
